RJ was born Robert Jay Woessner (pronounced WESS-ner) outside of Chicago, Illinois and grew up in Indiana. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Contemporary Writing & Production from Berklee College of Music .

 

RJ is the founding tenor in Disney's DCappella, Disney Music Group's highly-acclaimed a cappella group. The group has amassed over 37 MILLION combined video views across YouTube, VEVO and Facebook with over 155 MILLION combined audio streams to date. The group finished an 8-city, 19-show tour across Japan, as well as a 41-city North American tour in 2019. DCappella made their TV debut on American Idol's "Disney Night", with appearances on Disney+'s Best in Snow, Disney Insider, ABC's Magical Holiday Celebration Family and Holiday Singalongs to name a few. On stage, they opened up for and were featured in the ensemble for Disney's Beauty and the Beast: Live in Concert at the Hollywood Bowl. The vocal band also recorded four songs on the digital version of Michael Giacchino's Incredibles 2 original motion picture soundtrack. RJ even headlined with DCappella at Carnegie Hall for Deke Sharon's "Total Vocal" concert, marking his second time performing at the iconic hall.

 

Before DCappella, RJ performed Disney hits in orchestral tours throughout China and Taiwan as a lead vocalist with the Shanghai Philharmonic, Wuhan Philharmonic, and Evergreen Symphony. As a background vocalist, he has sung for Josh Groban, Bastille, and Jim Carrey. To date, he has performed in over 90 US cities/towns as well as Taiwan, China, Japan, Latvia, Wales, Bermuda, and Aruba. 

 

His eclectic performance abilities include spending 2.5 years as a motion capture performer at a New York animation company doing pre-vis animatic acting as hundreds of characters for commercials as well as VR military training. His most notable MoCap gig was playing Chester Cheetah in Burger King/Cheetos national commercials.

 

Compositionally, RJ has written a cappella choral arrangements and original film scores. His original film score for "4 Loves" was featured at the 2013 Big Apple Film Festival.  As an arranger, he was a 2018 Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award Nominee (CARA). He recently arranged and produced DCappella’s “Just Around The Riverbend/Colors of the Wind” for Disney. His work has been heard at the World Choir Games in Latvia and the Llangollen Musical Eistedfodd in Wales.

 

An accomplished voice-over artist, RJ has recorded for clients around the world for the past decade. He does voice-over and ADR for TV & feature films as well as commercials, promos, narrations and instructional videos for all media. He has recorded dozens of projects at his home studio in addition to broadcast work at world-class studios in LA & New York.

 

RJ resides between Valencia, Spain and Los Angeles, CA.
